How to Apply for Canada permanent residency through express entry

Following are some steps to be followed in sequence before you signup for canada express entry.

Step 1: Educational Assessment

Step 2: IELTS Test or CELPIP 

Step 3: Potential candidates create an online Express Entry profile and tell CIC Canada about his / her skills, work experience, language ability, education and other details.

Step4: If you meet the criteria of one of the federal economic immigration programs subject to Express Entry, you will be placed in a pool of pre-screened candidates.

Selected candidates are invited to submit an electronic application for Canada permanent residence.

You will receive an Invitation to Apply for Canada permanent residence if :

A) You have a valid job offer from an employer in Canada (subject to the Labour Market Impact Assessment process in place at that time);

B)You have been nominated by a province or territory; or

C) You are among the top ranked in the pool based on your skills and experience.

Step 5: Go for medical and PCC
Step 6: Lodge the visa within 90 days of getting the ITA.

FInal step: Visa Outcome

Express entry is for 3 programs

A) Federal skilled worker Program (FSWP)

B) Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

C) Federal skilled Trade Program

First step is to be eligible with scoring 67/100 with following-so check your eligibility score.

At least one year experience in National Occupation list (NOC) O, A or B category.

IELTS Gen module with at least 6 each or TEF with score equivalent to CLB 7

(it is advisable to score above 7 bands in IELTS and above 8 in CELPIP)


Education credential assessment for all degrees studied outside Canada through their recommended institutions.

After you receive a) your certificates verified i.e. after ECA is done. b) IELTS/CELPIP score c) Experience certificates 
Its the time to fill up the online application form for express entry.

It all depends upon your ranking in the pool. If you have higher score then your chances are high that you will receive Invitation to Apply (ITA) and if they are low your application will not get rejected but will be in lower merit.

Once you are in the pool and get ITA, CIC mentioned that 80% of applicants applications will be processed with in 6 months.
